The Book House Slip Notification Program uses the Library of Congress Books US database as its main source of full level or prepublication level MARC records. Newly cataloged records are retrieved weekly from LC tapes and stored online in our master database where they can be accessed and selected according to customer-specific profiles.

To establish a slip notification profile with the Book House, customers can make as few or as many specifications as they require in the following areas:

LC classification/subject coverage
Publisher/ISBN coverage
Publication language, format, and date coverage
Price requirements

The flexibility of our selection program allows for a variety of customized plans of coverage. You Control Your Profile, and because our program is based on True LC Subject Classifications, your master profile is administered exactly as submitted, without the need to convert your subject selections to any other coding scheme.

Our program emphasizes features that allow customers to design specifically customized slip notification profiles. Common options include:

Slip sorting by LC Class or by customer-specified Requestor Codes
Retrospective coverage capability to January 1994
Exclusion (or inclusion) of juvenile literature
Display actual LC cataloged prices only, or allow estimated pricing

Our standard terms apply to any title ordered from our notification program. Eligible titles ordered from our Discount Incentive Program Publishers receive discounts ranging from 13%-16% off sci-tech titles, to 20% off University Press cloth trade titles, and 33% off commercial cloth trade titles.

You can select from a variety of commonly used coverage options, or design a completely customized option, whichever best meets your requirements.

Out most common coverage options are:

Complete Subject Coverage:	This option provides our most comprehensive coverage. If you select this option, you will receive announcements of every newly cataloged title in all subjects from any publisher.
Publisher-Based Coverage:	This option also provides coverage of all subjects, but is customized to notify you of titles only from the publishers you select. This option is designed to allow for coverage of titles from publishers outside the range of your active approval plans.
Subject-Based Coverage:	This option provides coverage of all publishers, but is customized to notify you of titles only from the subjects you select.
Discount Incentive Program Coverage:	This option provides coverage of all subjects, but is customized to notify you of titles only from the publishers on the Book House Discount Incentive List. This option is designed to allow for coverage only of those titles which may be eligible for our best discounts.

Your Own Customized Coverage: The options described above are those which are most commonly selected by customers participating in our Slip Notification Program. We wish to emphasize that you are not limited to any of these plans, but can design a profile to fit your collection development needs!
